WhatsApp tests new voice-to-text feature for Android users
WhatsApp is reportedly testing a voice-to-text messaging feature in its Android beta version 2.26.37.8.
How the feature works
Users will tap a microphone-style button to speak their message while the app displays a listening status. The system converts spoken words into text that users can review and edit before sending. Recipients receive only the written text instead of an audio recording.
Availability and scope
The tool is currently under development and has not yet reached beta testers. It supports individual chats, group conversations, and channels according to reports from WABetaInfo. The app may allow offline processing if language packs are downloaded to the device.
