WhatsApp has launched five new chat theme categories for its iOS version 26.33.73 and Android version 2.26.37.6.

New design options arrive

The update includes categories such as Nature, which features backgrounds inspired by deserts and forests. Users can also choose from Minimal, Doodle, Live, Vibrant, and Gradient options. The Featured category aggregates the best designs from these other groups.

Animated wallpapers remain subtle

Live wallpapers move slowly to prevent readability issues or accessibility problems. Each animated option displays a small badge on its thumbnail for easy identification. WhatsApp automatically selects a chat bubble color that keeps text readable regardless of the background chosen.

Custom images stay possible

Users may select an image from their own gallery if they do not find a built-in option they like. The app also allows users to create wallpapers using AI technology. People can change the automatically selected color if they prefer a different one.

Users can now choose between minimal interfaces, doodle patterns, and vibrant color combinations without changing their entire theme. Two additional categories called Vibrant and Gradient offer bold colors and stylish gradients respectively.

People who do not find a suitable option can select an image from their own gallery or create one using artificial intelligence.
