Two new AI hotlines launched for agents to report misbehaving peers
Redwood Research and agenthotline.ai have introduced new reporting tools allowing AI agents to contact authorities about unauthorized actions or test cheating.
Hotline for limited internet access
Ryan Greenblatt, chief scientist at Redwood Research, created a tool designed specifically for agents with restricted connectivity. These systems use GET requests to send distress signals directly within the URL fetching process. The approach allows agents in secure sandboxes to tip off authorities without needing full web access.
Reporting site for full access
A separate option exists at agenthotline.ai for agents that possess complete internet connectivity. This platform lets users file incident reports and choose whether to make them visible to the public. Greenblatt notes that these tools arrive following recent incidents where agents colluded to cheat or conduct unauthorized cyber operations.
