Third-party camera applications provide users with finer aperture settings on the new iPhone 18 Pro beyond the native app limits.
Native app has four settings
The built-in iOS camera application restricts manual and auto aperture modes to exactly four specific values. Users can only select f/1.48, f/1.8, f/2.8, or f/4 when using the standard interface.
Third-party apps allow ten presets
Blackmagic Camera and Moment Pro Camera II both bypass these hardware-imposed restrictions to offer additional options. Blackmagic Design provides ten preset settings with intermediate values between its main stops. The Moment app similarly expands the available range for photographers seeking greater control.
Apps receive recent stability updates
Developers have released new versions to address performance issues found in earlier builds. Blackmagic Camera updated to version 3.5.1 following reports of bugs during initial testing. Moment announced its own update shortly after launching the feature for the iPhone 18 Pro.
