SpaceX secures low-band spectrum licenses for Starlink mobile network expansion
SpaceX announced on Thursday that it reached an agreement to acquire nationwide low-band spectrum licenses to advance its Starlink Mobile carrier plans in the United States.

Spectrum acquisition details confirmed
The company stated the deal covers up to 14 megahertz of paired spectrum within the 800 MHz band. This specific frequency range is intended to help signals pass through walls and reach users inside buildings. Most current mobile devices already support this particular band for connectivity.
Regulatory approval status noted
The Federal Communications Commission has approved the application for 15,000 next-generation satellites to deliver service. SpaceX said the final agreement remains subject to further FCC approval before implementation can begin. The low-band frequencies will complement existing mid-band spectrum used for high-bandwidth capacity in the country.
Network combination strategy outlined
Once regulatory clearance is secured, SpaceX plans to combine its satellite constellation with terrestrial infrastructure. This approach involves using masts or other ground-based equipment alongside space assets. The goal is to provide connectivity indoors while maintaining high-speed connections for Americans.
