New models run Android 15

Certification documents indicate the new units are classified as gaming consoles or peripherals. The current PlayStation Portal uses model number CFI-Y1001 and also runs on Android. These new entries suggest a potential update to the existing streaming handheld.

One device may feature OLED

Analysts speculate one of the certified products could be an OLED version rumored earlier this year. The other unit might represent a different hardware iteration for the same product line. Both devices appear designed to stream games from home consoles or cloud services.

Home console uses custom OS

The PS5 home console operates on a custom operating system unlike these new handhelds. This distinction separates the streaming hardware from the main gaming station in Sony's lineup. The reports confirm the new models rely on standard Android software.
