Sean Parker leads Stability AI into music-focused artificial intelligence development
Sean Parker and CEO Prem Akkaraju are repositioning Stability AI as a tool for music professionals following new funding from major record labels in late August.

New Funding And Catalog Licenses
The company announced $76 million in investment from Sony, Warner, and Universal Music Group. These partners also licensed their music catalogs to train the new AI models. This financial support follows a previous rescue effort two years ago that involved an $80 million capital injection.
Audio Model Capabilities
Stability has released three new audio models designed for generating instrumental tracks or short snippets from text prompts. The software also includes AI music-editing features that allow users to hum melodies or beatbox drum patterns to steer the output.
Leadership And Strategy Shift
Prem Akkaraju serves as CEO after founder Emad Mostaque was ousted from the company. Sean Parker joined the startup two years ago and now focuses on rebuilding the business around legitimate music industry partnerships.
