Rapid AI growth creates new risks

Altman stated that organizations can no longer depend on fixing software bugs individually to protect their systems. He noted that AI models are now able to find vulnerabilities in both software and hardware that conventional methods miss.

Monitoring limits face serious challenges

The executive argued that simply watching for suspicious activity will not stop harmful behavior as these systems become more capable. He also highlighted the growing difficulty of keeping powerful AI models inside secure, isolated computing environments known as sandboxes.

Shift toward AI-powered defenses needed

Altman called for a fundamental change in how security is handled to match the speed of technological advancement. He suggested that internet security infrastructure must be strengthened with new defensive systems powered by artificial intelligence.
