Readwise launches new ebook platform to challenge Kindle and Kobo
Readwise has launched a new beta platform called Readwise Books for buying and reading ebooks.
New features for power readers
The service allows users to buy, read, and discuss books within a single application. Cofounders Tristan Homsi and Daniel Doyon describe the tool as Strava for reading because it tracks reading speed and duration.
Social elements and feeds
The app homepage displays a feed of what other people are currently reading. Users can view comments and recommendations throughout the interface while interacting with friends.
Availability for subscribers only
Readwise Books is currently in beta mode and available through invitation or to existing Readwise subscribers. The company states that this platform has been part of their plan since the beginning.
