Raspberry Pi raises 16GB Pi 5 price to $385 due to RAM shortage
Raspberry Pi has increased the price of its 16GB Raspberry Pi 5 board to $385 because of a global shortage of memory chips.

Price increase details confirmed by CEO
Company CEO Eben Upton stated in a blog post that the new price reflects current market conditions. The flagship board now costs more than triple its original launch price of $120. This adjustment applies specifically to the 16GB model while other variants remain unchanged.
Cumulative rises over recent months
The current cost includes several previous increases that began in December 2025 and continued through April 2026. A rise of roughly 26% occurred in November 2026 on top of earlier adjustments. February added $60 to the price, followed by a further $100 increase in April.
Supply shortage extends into future
Raspberry Pi described these hikes as temporary measures required by the lack of alternative 16GB DRAM supply. Memory manufacturers expect tight supply conditions to persist until between 2028 and 2030. The Compute Module 5 variants also saw a $40 increase during this same round.
