Shift from first-person shooter style

Potron stated that the development team chose a turn-based tactics genre instead of maintaining the series traditional first-person perspective. He noted that Rainbow Six DNA is inherently tactical, which justified this specific genre choice for the upcoming Siege spin-off.

Borrowing design metrics from Rabbids

The director explained that Mario + Rabbids helped the studio understand the specific metrics required for tactics. Members of the level design team who came from the Rabbids project assisted in shaping parts of the new game.

Changing developer habits and rules

Potron admitted he had to change his own developer habits after working on Ghost Recon previously. He described a move away from smoke and mirrors experiences regarding lethality and enemy behaviors in this new title.
