Supply limits extend through next year

German outlet Playfront reports that Sony informed distribution partners about temporary market supply constraints. These limitations are expected to keep retailer stock low until the following year. High demand for the console drives these ongoing shortages despite its November 2024 launch.

Resale prices rise significantly

Store supplies are dwindling while opportunists price consoles hundreds of dollars above the asking price. At Best Buy, one reseller listed a unit for $1,539. The MSRP has effectively increased by $200 compared to the initial $699.99 cost.

GTA 6 launch adds pressure

Fans are eager for the new game which ends a thirteen year drought between installments. The upcoming title is set to launch on November 19. This release will likely worsen the existing shortage of the upgraded gaming hardware.
