Thieves stole two PlusAI and Nvidia branded trailers filled with sand from a warehouse in Newark, California, on Thursday morning.
Truck cabs remained secure inside
Police recovered the two trailers which were parked outside the facility. The driver's cabs stayed inside the main warehouse and were not taken. Thieves broke hand locks to remove the empty containers.
Sand filled the stolen units
Each trailer held approximately 20,000 pounds of sand used for testing. Officers found about 40,000 pounds of sand intact after the theft. The company uses simulated loads to assist with research and development.
Investigation continues without arrests
