Plugging power strips into each other creates fire risks in homes
Safety experts warn that daisy-chaining power strips in a home office can cause overheating and potential house fires.

Daisy-chaining increases electrical load
Connecting one strip to another does not increase the total electrical capacity available. The first strip must carry the combined power draw of all devices plugged into both units. This extra burden forces the initial plug and internal components to handle more current than designed.
Overheating leads to melting parts
Excessive current flowing through the wiring generates resistive heating inside the first power strip. If the load exceeds the maximum amp rating, the casing and wire insulation can melt over time. This damage may eventually ignite nearby flammable materials in a home office setting.
