New agency formed from classified programs

Officials merged two intelligence programs that had been active since 2023 to create this new unit. The office is known internally as the TSO within the Department of Defense records.

Goal is military superiority protection

Its purpose involves covertly sabotaging foreign technology that could harm US military advantages. Current and former national security officials told Politico about these clandestine sabotage plans at a global level.

Deputy Defense Secretary leads initiative

Deputy Defense Secretary Steve Feinberg is credited with originating the concept for this new arm. Numerous intelligence officers support the idea despite questions regarding operational oversight.
