Pakistan approves Rs 37.19 billion investment for PAKSAT-2 satellite project
The Central Development Working Party recommended the PakSat-2 satellite initiative to the National Economic Council Executive Committee in Pakistan.
Satellite and hub projects approved
Planning Minister Ahsan Iqbal stated that strengthening the space program is part of the broader Uraan Pakistan development agenda. The forum also gave approval for a separate Rs 3.62 billion project to create a Geo-AI Development and Innovation Hub.
Revised plan for research center
Officials were directed to update the scope of the Dr Ashfaq Ahmad Khan Center in Basic Sciences after eight years since its initial approval. The minister ordered authorities to revise costs based on current requirements and include emerging fields in the project.
University laboratory upgrades ordered
Ahsan Iqbal directed officials to upgrade laboratories at five engineering universities across the country. He further instructed the Higher Education Commission to identify locations in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Sindh and Balochistan for new research centers.
