New animation features arrive now

The company says the change lets users adjust playback speed and edit individual frames. This capability replaces the previous inability to generate GIFs in a single step. An example shows the system creating a dancing cat from a simple request.

Image generation speeds increase

The Images 2.6 model also enables faster image creation across web, desktop, and mobile apps. OpenAI reports that users now generate over 4 billion images per week. This figure represents a jump from the 3 billion reported in September.

API tools get new names

OpenAI is launching GPT-Image-2.6 Flare and Sunburst within its API for higher quality results. These specific tools are designed to support the faster generation rates mentioned earlier.
