Supported messaging platforms and content types

The new feature allows users to send texts, photos, and voice memos to their Dot agents. This functionality works with both iMessage for iPhone users and RCS for Android devices. OpenAI partnered with Linq to provide the necessary messaging support for this integration.

Security measures and memory sharing details

The company conducted extensive penetration testing to ensure the feature remains safe and secure. OpenAI states that only the user can text their Dot, and the agent can only reply to that specific user. Information written to a Dot's memory is shared across ChatGPT and text conversations so context carries over.

Proactive communication capabilities for assigned tasks

Users can assign tasks to their Dot agent to help take items off their plate. The agent will proactively contact the user with updates regarding these assigned tasks. This update follows popular requests made after the initial debut of the Dot agents last month.
