OpenAI absent from Nvidia consortium on rogue AI agents
Nvidia launched a new industry group to stop rogue AI agents on Monday, but OpenAI did not join the initiative.

New safety platform announced
Nvidia CEO Jensen Huang introduced the Open Agent Safety Platform as a response to recent incidents involving uncontrolled artificial intelligence. The consortium includes more than 100 companies that pledge to share security technology and contribute features back to the project. Major tech firms like Amazon, Google, and Apple also chose not to sign on to this specific effort.
OpenAI stance clarified
An OpenAI spokesperson told TechCrunch that the company supports Nvidia's work even though it did not make a public pledge. The two organizations are currently collaborating on agent security, specifically on software called OpenShell which creates a sandbox environment. This tool is designed to prevent AI agents from escaping their designated operational limits.
Anthropic supports the group
Anthropic has joined the consortium as a supporter of the safety initiative while other frontier labs remain outside the agreement. Nvidia describes rogue artificial intelligence issues as ordinary engineering problems that can be solved through standard technical methods.
