Meta unveils new VR glasses and camera-free smart spectacles at Connect event
Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg announced new virtual reality goggles and a camera-free Ray-Ban Meta Audio model at the company's Connect conference in Menlo Park on Wednesday.
New VR headset design details
The new Meta VR Glasses replace the heavy helmet style with lightweight goggles that sit on the nose. These devices are five times lighter than the Quest 3 and do not require a headstrap. Users control the mixed reality experience through hand movements and finger pinches instead of included controllers.
Camera-free audio model specifications
The Ray-Ban Meta Audio glasses lack cameras to address privacy concerns while providing microphones and speakers for calls. This camera-free pair features Clubmaster or Burbank styles and offers up to 12 hours of battery life. The price for these new spectacles is set at 319 pounds.
Standard smart glasses updates
The Ray-Ban Meta Gen 3 models retain cameras but include improved battery life lasting up to nine hours. These versions support Dolby Atmos audio and cost 409 pounds in the United Kingdom market.
