Meta unveils lightweight VR glasses and camera-free smart eyewear at Connect 2026

Meta announced new virtual reality spectacles and a camera-free audio model at its annual Connect event in Menlo Park on Wednesday.

New virtual reality glasses launch

The company introduced the Meta VR Glasses, which weigh 100 grams and lack head straps. These devices connect to a tethered puck containing the battery and compute hardware. The headset features a 5K micro OLED display and supports full-color passthrough video.

Camera-free audio smart glasses

Executives also revealed Ray-Ban Meta Audio, a pair of spectacles without cameras or screens. This model focuses on music playback and calls while lasting up to 12 hours on a single charge. The frames come in classic Clubmaster or Burbank styles.

Third generation AI specs

Meta released the Ray-Ban Meta Gen 3, which includes cameras and improved battery life compared to previous versions. These glasses support Dolby Atmos audio and will cost $409 in the United States. The Muse AI agent is also being integrated into the smart glasses platform.
