Laplace Intelligence builds automated red-teaming tools for physical AI systems
Laplace Intelligence CEO Howie Sun describes the company's automated stress-testing service for robotics and self-driving cars at TechCrunch Disrupt in San Francisco this week.

Company aims to prevent real-world AI failures
The Ann Arbor-based startup focuses on stress-testing systems by deliberately trying to make them fail before deployment. Howie Sun told TechCrunch that physical AI agents moving into the real world must not fail in that environment. The company believes using AI to test other AI is the only way to ensure safety.
Founders publish research on autonomous driving
Sun and co-founder Henry Liu founded Laplace a year ago after Sun spent eight years researching autonomous driving in academia. Their 2023 paper on challenging autonomous driving AI appeared on the cover of the journal Nature. The founders are currently competing in Startup Battlefield 200 at TechCrunch Disrupt.
