Kaspersky warns Pakistanis of mobile phone scam targeting new device buyers
Russian cybersecurity firm Kaspersky warned people in Pakistan on Wednesday about fraudulent schemes targeting buyers of new mobile phones.

Fake sites mimic Apple design
The company detected English-language websites that advertised a twenty-five percent discount for premium devices. These pages used an interface that closely resembled the visual style of Apple products. A countdown timer on the site claimed only thirty minutes remained to create false urgency.
Scammers avoid card requests
Visitors were asked to enter contact details and shipping addresses at the checkout stage. The fraudulent pages did not ask for credit card information during this initial step. Instead, a manager claimed they would call later to confirm delivery and payment arrangements.
Offers target multiple languages
The scams are not limited to English-speaking audiences as the sites offer multilingual options. Users could select their preferred language and currency for the purchase on these pages. One example showed a fake website inviting preorders for a new device model.
