Jagex develops fourth RuneScape game using Unreal Engine
Jagex announced during its annual RuneFest convention that a new title called RS4 is currently in development.

New engine and release timing
The upcoming project will utilize the Unreal Engine for its graphics. Jagex plans to share further information about the game next year.
Setting and existing titles
This new MMO is set in the Sixth Age, occurring years after RuneScape: Dragonwilds. The studio stated that RS4 will sit alongside older games rather than replacing them.
Development history changes
The project was originally intended as an expansion named Shadows of Ashenfall. Development shifted to create a standalone title similar to past MMO entries.
