Hundreds of generic and branded options appear

ICANN has received 1,615 applications submitted by 481 different applicants so far. The batch includes hundreds of generic suffixes ranging from .geek to .anime alongside purely branded domains for specific companies.

Major tech companies lead the AI push

Ten different companies, including Meta and OpenAI, applied for the .agent domain. Seven applicants sought the .agi suffix, while six companies requested .asi to align with recent terminology shifts regarding artificial intelligence.

OpenAI and Meta submit many requests

OpenAI has applied for a total of 15 top-level domains in this current batch. Meta is one of two entities interested in the very long .superintelligence suffix and wants to register 21 domains overall.
