HP and Asus move PC production back to China amid rising costs
Major computer makers HP and Asus are shifting some laptop manufacturing from Southeast Asia back to China as component prices increase.

Manufacturing locations change again
Companies like HP and Asus are sending work to Chinese assemblers instead of factories in Thailand or Vietnam. This shift targets access to memory chips available within the country. The move aims to reduce expenses on hardware parts that have become more expensive.
Industry share numbers drop
TrendForce predicts the portion of notebooks made outside China will fall from 24 percent to 21 percent this year. Other brands such as Acer are also rebalancing their output while Dell evaluates a similar change. These actions reverse earlier plans to move production away from China.
