Google satellite AI server sends first haiku response from orbit

Google announced on Friday that its Project Suncatcher satellite successfully transmitted the first AI-generated haiku about space conditions back to Earth.

Satellite activates onboard computing units

The company confirmed it booted up the Tensor Processing Units inside the spacecraft. This activation allowed the Gemma 4 model to process a prompt regarding its location in space.

Test results show successful execution

Google stated that the system generated a poem describing the view of Earth from above. The team also tried other prompts involving limericks and telemetry data during this initial trial.

Future plans for orbital network

The organization intends to run more tests on thermal stress and radiation exposure next. They aim to verify reliable performance before launching twin interconnected satellites in 2027.
