LTE emergency features require a plan

Starting after the mid-December cutoff, users must pay for a mobile plan to use Emergency SOS, Fall Detection, and Safety Check over cellular networks. Existing users will receive email and push notifications providing advanced notice of this change before access stops.

Transition period allows continued Wi-Fi use

The features remain available for a 30-day transition period beginning when the notification is sent. During this time, safety tools continue to work without a mobile plan if the watch connects to Wi-Fi or pairs with a smartphone via Bluetooth.

Support ends by end of 2026

Google stated that full support for the Safety Signal feature on these LTE-enabled models will conclude by the end of 2026. The company confirmed this timeline in a community post regarding the shift to carrier-dependent plans.
