Google Docs web version lacks dark mode while mobile apps have it
Users of Google Docs can access a dark theme on mobile devices but cannot enable it on the website version.
Dark mode availability varies by platform
Google introduced the dark theme option for its word processor in 2020. The feature became available first on Android and later on Apple devices. This setting remains absent from the desktop website interface despite ongoing updates.
Workarounds exist for the missing feature
Users can find the theme option by navigating to Menu and then Settings. Selecting Choose Theme allows access to Dark, Light, or System Default options on mobile. The web version does not currently offer this same navigation path.
