GMO Internet Group deploys humanoid robot ambulance in Tokyo
Japanese firm GMO Internet Group is launching a specialized maintenance vehicle for its humanoid robots in Tokyo this month.
Vehicle carries spare units and tools
The new ambulance transports diagnostic equipment, spare parts, and repair tools to the location of a breakdown. It also holds a spare humanoid robot ready to replace a broken unit immediately on the street. The damaged machine is then ferried back to GMO's repair base in Shibuya for further work.
Service covers specific company robots only
This maintenance service currently operates with just one ambulance stationed at the Tokyo headquarters. Dispatch decisions are made on a case-by-case basis and cover only humanoids deployed by GMO AI & Robotics Trading. The trial involves Unitree-built machines working as baggage handlers at Haneda airport through 2028.
