Fox Corp closes $22 billion acquisition of streaming platform Roku

Fox Corp announced on Friday that it has officially closed its $22 billion takeover of streaming device maker Roku.

New leadership roles confirmed

Anthony Wood will join the Fox board of directors and serve as co-chair of the new digital platforms division. Paul Cheesbrough takes the role of co-chair and CEO for this newly formed unit that manages Roku and other services.

Platform openness preserved

The combined company pledged to keep Roku as an open ecosystem without giving exclusive advantages to Fox News or Fox One. This approach ensures the platform remains available to all content partners while expanding its reach across more than 100 million households.

Expanded streaming footprint

Fox now controls a major distribution channel for premium subscription services and free ad-supported video through Tubi. The deal allows the company to increase scale in digital video advertising alongside its existing content libraries.
