Previous exits drive new ventures

Putnam previously sold her connected-fitness company Mirror to Lululemon for five hundred million dollars. Walker sold his men's grooming brand to Procter and Gamble after five years of employment. Both entrepreneurs returned to start their own projects because they dislike working inside other organizations.

New products focus on groups

Putnam created a company called Board that features a large touchscreen table for physical games. This device recognizes game pieces and gestures while requiring people to sit around it together. Walker started Heirloom to scale fine-craft trade schools including a leatherworking location in San Francisco.

Shared goal of offline connection

The two new companies differ greatly in their specific products but share one main objective. They aim to get people into the same room rather than having individuals use screens alone. These founders believe that physical interaction remains important for building strong community bonds.
