Disney hires Karandeep Anand as its first chief technology officer
Disney appointed Karandeep Anand as its first chief technology officer effective October 2.

Anand joins from Character.AI

Previous legal dispute resolved
Disney sent a cease-and-desist letter to Character.AI last year regarding copyright infringement claims. The startup complied with the request before Anand accepted the new role at the entertainment company.
Technical team expected to move
Disney stated that several members of Character.AI's technical staff are expected to join the organization. Anand brings experience from Microsoft, Meta, and his time leading the chatbot platform.
