Discord starts automatic age sorting without scanning IDs or messages
Discord announced today that it will begin automatically sorting users into adult or teen groups based on account activity and server history.
New sorting method details
The service will determine age status using markers like account age and general activity levels. This process does not involve accessing private messages or calls to estimate a user's age. Individual age groups remain hidden from other server members and do not appear on public profiles.
User settings and access
Users can view their assigned group within the Account Status section of the User Settings menu. Approximately 90 percent of the platform's audience will see no changes required for their accounts. The policy replaces a previous plan that would have demanded facial scans or ID verification.
