Developer creates hack to play Dolby TrueHD audio on Apple TV 4K
A developer has created a method using open source software and a Mac to enable lossless Dolby TrueHD sound with Atmos effects on the third-generation Apple TV 4K.

Audio conversion process explained
The system does not deliver the original TrueHD track directly to the device. Instead, it converts the audio and positional data into other formats that the hardware can handle. The software then recombines these elements into a higher quality output for home theater speakers.
Requirements for the setup
Users must build this feature themselves on a Mac computer at this time. Native Player offers similar audio capabilities but is not open source software. The proposed solution extends functionality to the Nuvio media player application.
