Canon announces EOS R8 Mark II with in-body stabilization and retro design
Canon has announced the second-generation EOS R8 camera featuring a new retro-inspired redesign and added in-body image stabilization.
Design and sensor specifications
The new model uses a 24.2-megapixel full-frame CMOS sensor identical to the previous R6 Mark II. Its body weighs approximately 1.2 pounds, which is slightly heavier than the original R8 but lighter than the EOS R6 Mark III.
Launch price and availability
The camera is expected to be available in late October for $1,899 as a body-only unit. A bundle including a 24-50mm stabilized lens will cost $2,099.
Shutter and frame rate
The device relies exclusively on an electronic shutter for capturing images. High-speed capture capabilities allow the camera to reach a maximum of 40 frames per second.
