Bose recalls over 670000 S1 Pro battery packs in US and Canada

Bose announced a recall on Thursday covering nearly 670,000 lithium-ion battery packs for its S1 Pro speakers in the United States and Canada.

Recall covers specific units

The company states that the speaker itself remains safe while the internal battery pack poses a risk. Affected packs were sold between December 2017 and July 2026 at various retailers including Best Buy and Amazon. These units can overheat and ignite, which could cause fire or burn injuries to users.

Reports of battery failure

Bose has received seven reports involving batteries that melted, smoked, or caught fire during this period. Six of those incidents resulted in property damage while no injuries have been reported so far. The US Consumer Product Safety Commission joined Bose in issuing the public notice about the defect.

How to check your unit

Owners must remove the battery and locate its 17-digit serial number to determine if it is affected. Not every battery pack included with the speakers is part of this specific recall campaign. Customers should stop using the device immediately if they believe their battery pack is on the list.
