Asus, Lenovo and HP sell cheap AMD Athlon Silver 10 laptops
Asus, Lenovo and HP are selling new laptops powered by the AMD Athlon Silver 10 processor for under $500.
Processor specifications reveal older design
The chip is a renamed version of the 2022 Athlon Silver 7120U. It features two Zen 2 cores and lacks simultaneous multithreading technology. The device operates with a 15W thermal design power rating.
Memory limits affect performance
Some models include only 4GB of soldered memory to meet minimum requirements. This amount is barely sufficient for running Windows 11. Other processors in the same price range offer significantly more RAM.
