Apple refreshes HomePod mini with new chip and audio features
Apple announced an updated HomePod mini speaker at its smart home event on Tuesday.
New hardware and pricing details
The refreshed model includes a new S10 chip designed to improve acoustic performance. The price for this update is set at $149, which is fifty dollars higher than the original version launched in 2020.
Visual and audio capabilities
The device features a visual canvas called Sound Glow that displays album artwork colors on its light panel. Users can also select soundscapes like rain or ocean waves to display specific light patterns on the speaker top.
Future software and connectivity
Siri AI integration will arrive through a future update rather than at launch. The new speakers support four-unit surround sound setups with Apple TV 4K and persistent connections for Mac audio playback.
