Apple launches HomeView smart display with upgraded Siri AI

Apple unveiled its new HomeView smart home hub on Tuesday in New York, priced at $299 and available for delivery starting November 13.

Device features and pricing

The new hub includes a seven-inch screen and facial recognition that supports up to six household members. It can be mounted on a wall or placed on a table without buttons for interaction. The device also offers FaceTime calls, music playback, and control over smart home accessories like thermostats and locks.

Competitive market strategy

This launch marks Apple's second major product event under CEO John Ternus who replaced Tim Cook in September. The company introduced the device alongside an updated Apple TV 4K and a new HomePod Mini costing $149. These products aim to unify the connected living space while competing with rivals like Amazon and OpenAI.

Partner hardware collection

Apple announced a new Apple Home Collection featuring end-to-end encrypted cameras, thermostats, and door locks developed with partners LG and Schneider Electric. These accessories are managed through the Apple Home app alongside the new smart display. The lineup includes indoor and outdoor security cameras as well as a smart lock for home entry.
