Junior staff numbers drop sharply

The proportion of junior-level employees in technical departments fell from 21 percent to 14 percent since early 2025. Junior technical hires saw an even steeper decline, dropping from 27 percent down to just 9 percent during the same period.

Technical teams make up less staff

Technical roles now represent a smaller share of the total workforce, decreasing from 61 percent to 56 percent. The company attributes this change to natural business expansion and coding tools that let non-technical employees build software themselves.

Work focus shifts to management

A survey from April 2026 found that 27 percent of workers felt more productive because of Claude. Meanwhile, 20 percent said their job had changed from doing work to managing Claudes instead.
