Anthropic launches Claude Personal Finance feature connecting to bank accounts
Anthropic has introduced a new Personal Finance tool for its Claude AI that links directly to user bank and card accounts via Plaid.
Spending analysis capabilities
The chatbot can generate an overview of monthly spending broken down by category such as rent, utilities, shopping, and food. Users may ask questions about remaining bills before the next payday or whether they can afford large purchases like holiday trips.
Data access limits
The system provides read-only access to account names, types, balances, credit limits, and up to two years of transaction history. Anthropic states the tool cannot move, manage, or invest money and is not designed to give investment advice.
Security measures
Plaid facilitates the connection so that Claude does not see banking passwords. The bank also avoids dealing with unvetted AI bots crawling around accounts without permission.
