Competitors introduce paid ads

OpenAI has over 100,000 customers advertising in ChatGPT since the feature launched in February. Google expanded its search chatbot AI Mode advertisements to ten additional countries beyond the United States last week.

Smaller platforms seek revenue

Niche chatbot platforms may find selling ads necessary to cover high costs of generating responses. New technology companies are marketing ad solutions for over 200 applications including DeepAI and Liner.

Anthropic rejects the model

The company did not mention selling ads in its recent IPO filing. Investors provided about $112 billion in cash, allowing Anthropic to maintain its high ground without advertising revenue.
