Amazon plans to buy over three million Nvidia GPUs by 2029
Amazon Web Services announced a deal with Nvidia to acquire more than three million additional chips before 2029.
New chip order details
The agreement includes two million Blackwell Ultra, Rubin, and Rubin Ultra GPUs for deployment in 2027 and 2028. This purchase adds to over one million Nvidia GPUs that AWS already committed to in March.
Delivery timeline starts soon
Nvidia's CFO stated that deliveries for this new order begin this quarter rather than waiting until 2027. Amazon ended the year with approximately 1.58 million employees across its global operations.
Chip count exceeds staff
By mid-2028, the total number of Nvidia GPUs at AWS will reach roughly twice the employee count. The final tally represents a multiple of nearly two chips for every worker in the company.
