Amazon launches new Alexa tablets with Android and Google Play Store
Amazon announced a new lineup of Alexa tablets running official Android on Thursday.

New hardware replaces Fire OS devices
The company introduced three models including the 12 Pro, the 11, and the 8. Each device features an aluminum unibody design and runs on Android instead of the previous Fire OS. This shift allows users to download millions of apps directly from the Google Play Store at launch.
Performance gains and display options
The 12 Pro model delivers nearly three times the processing power of earlier tablets. It includes a 12-inch screen with a 120Hz refresh rate and comes in standard or anti-glare variants. Amazon states the hardware is engineered for perfect balance while supporting high-resolution displays.
Pricing and shipping schedule details
Preorders are currently open with shipments beginning on October 14. The 12 Pro costs $500, the 11 is priced at $330, and the 8 retails for $230. Kids editions of the smaller models include bumper cases and a one-year guarantee.
