Amazon confirms permanent loss of customer data after Iranian strikes
Amazon Web Services acknowledged permanent data loss in Bahrain and the United Arab Emirates following Iranian drone strikes on its data centers.

Damage spans multiple zones
An AWS dashboard update posted on September 15 stated that the company could not restore access to resources in specific availability zones. In the United Arab Emirates region, one of three availability zones suffered irretrievable data loss. Conversely, Amazon reported it was unable to restore access across all three availability zones in the Bahrain region.
Infrastructure destruction exceeds design
The AWS update described the damage as spanning multiple availability zones and exceeding what regional services are designed to withstand. The company is currently working on recovering regional resources and replacing affected infrastructure. Amazon promised to provide updates regarding service restoration in the coming months.
