Project Commissioned By Performing Arts Center

The Susan Smith Blackburn Prize partnered with the Flynn to commission the anthology. Playwrights answered two specific questions about the current state of American democracy and the role of history in this pivotal moment.

Works Explore Gender Bias And Labor

One play examines gender bias in the Constitution through family stories while another focuses on a hotel maid named Elsie Parrish. The collection includes pieces from writers across the United States who address these themes in their scripts.

Anthology Published In New Collection

The book titled Women+ on the Edge of Democracy will be available for purchase this month. Executive director Jay Wahl described the project as a response to tumultuous moments in American political history.
