Design prioritizes technology over fashion

The new devices feature a bulkier and heavier construction compared to ordinary spectacles. Snap designed these products in-house to ensure they look like a tech product first rather than a fashion accessory. Spiegel stated that the capability of the glasses is more important than their appearance for daily use.

Development timeline spans many years

These spectacles have been under development for 11 years before their official release. The launch marks the culmination of five previous generations, including two AR prototypes released to developers in 2021 and 2024. This approach differs from other companies that try to make smart glasses look more like normal eyewear.
