Designer departs after brief tenure

Luca de Meo, chief executive of Kering, issued a statement expressing great respect for Piccioli's work. The designer took over the brand in July 2025 to succeed Demna. His time at the company ended today according to the parent group.

Creative direction shifted from streetwear

Piccioli moved away from the streetwear style that his predecessor championed during his leadership. He instead focused on a romantic approach that emphasized craft and personal touches. His debut collection included designs based on archival references such as the sack dress.

Projects launched before departure

The designer oversaw campaigns directed by Celine Song featuring Sarah Pidgeon in New York. He also managed collaborations with Sam Levinson and Manolo Blahnik during his time there. Balenciaga leadership stated they are grateful for his contribution to the house.
