Miami City Ballet presents Jerome Robbins Opus Jazz in new costumes this fall
Miami City Ballet will perform Jerome Robbins's ballet Opus Jazz for the first time in Miami on October 16 as part of American Rhythms.

New costumes and sneakers replace traditional attire
The production features dancers wearing sneakers, T-shirts, and leggings instead of pointe shoes or tutus. Zac Posen designed stretchy denim for this specific iteration of the work. This version marks the first authorized redesign of the original stage costumes since the ballet premiered in 1958.
Artistic director Gonzalo Garcia leads the company
Gonzalo Garcia arrived at Miami City Ballet last year to launch his first fully programmed season. He intends to use this performance to develop his vision while paying tribute to the company's legacy. The show serves as an opening program that highlights new choreographers and designers within the troupe.
